Tier II Syllabus (100 Questions · 200 Marks · 60 Min)
Tier II is where the actual merit is decided — Tier I is only a screening round. It's split into two sections with different subject weightage than Tier I.
Tier I only qualifies you for Tier II — it does not add to your final merit score. Don't over-invest time in Tier I once you're confident of clearing the cutoff; shift focus to Tier II early.
Skill Test / Typing Test (Qualifying)
- Data Entry Operator (DEO) post: Data Entry Speed Test — 8,000 key depressions per hour
- LDC / Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA): Typing Test — 35 words per minute in English OR 30 wpm in Hindi
- No marks are added to merit — this stage is purely qualifying, but missing the speed cutoff means disqualification
How to Prepare for SSC CHSL 2026
- 1Since Tier I and Tier II share the same subjects, prepare topics once at Tier II depth — don't relearn twice
- 2English carries the highest weight in Tier II (40 questions, 80 marks) — prioritize vocabulary and RC daily
- 3Practice typing early if targeting LDC/JSA — 35 wpm needs weeks of daily practice, not last-minute cramming
- 4Attempt 1 full-length Tier I mock weekly from Day 1 to build exam-day speed
- 5Revise Current Affairs from the last 6 months — General Awareness is scored purely on recall
