SSC CHSL 2026 Tier I will be held from 30 November to 31 December 2026, in computer-based mode. The date comes from SSC's schedule notice of 1 October 2026, as reported by coaching sites. SSC has not yet said which day or shift each candidate gets. That arrives with the city slip and the admit card.

The short version

  • Tier I runs from 30 November to 31 December 2026. It is a window, not one day.
  • Applications and fee payment have closed. The correction window was 14 to 16 October.
  • About 2,536 vacancies, listed as tentative.
  • Tier I has 100 questions, 200 marks, 60 minutes, and −0.5 for each wrong answer.
  • Your own date, shift and city come on the city slip, then the admit card.

What SSC has not announced yet

  • The Tier II date.
  • The city intimation slip date. Coaching sites expect it about 7 to 10 days before your exam, but this is a guess, not an SSC date.
  • The admit card date. Sites expect it 2 to 4 days before your exam. This is also a guess.
  • Your own exam date and shift. Many days are in the window, so SSC allots them.

Time is 60 minutes, and each wrong answer loses 0.5 marks. Tier I screens candidates for Tier II. Some sites say each section has its own 15-minute timer. We could not confirm that from the notice, so do not rely on it. Practise as if you may be unable to go back to a section after its time ends.

How to use the weeks that are left

  • Now to 15 November: finish the syllabus. Do one section a day, then revise.
  • 16 to 28 November: one full 100-question mock every day, in 60 minutes. Review each wrong answer.
  • Exam week: no new topics. Revise formulas, errors and the current affairs of the last 6 months.

Pro tipSince each wrong answer costs 0.5, skip a question when you cannot cut the options down to two. A blind guess loses marks on average.
