West Bengal Public Service Commission — WBCS (Exe.) Preliminary Examination
The West Bengal Civil Service (Executive) Examination of the West Bengal Public Service Commission fills Group A to D state services, from WBCS (Exe.) to Joint BDO. The Preliminary exam is a single General Studies paper of 200 questions for 200 marks in 2 hours 30 minutes, in Bengali and English, with eight sections of 25 marks each. It only screens candidates for the Mains; its marks do not count in the final merit. The Mains has six compulsory papers of 200 marks (Language, English, two General Studies papers, Constitution & Economy, and Arithmetic & Reasoning), plus two optional papers for Groups A and B, followed by a personality test of 200, 150 or 100 marks depending on the group. The latest Prelims, for the 2024-cycle advertisement, was held on 14 June 2026.
