About RRB Station Master

Railway Recruitment Boards — Station Master (CEN 08/2026)

Until the last cycle, Station Master was one of the RRB NTPC Graduate posts. In 2026 the Railway Board kept it out of NTPC (CEN 06/2026) and RRBs notified it on its own as CEN 08/2026, with 1,265 Level 6 posts. The exam is new too: one computer based test of 100 questions in 120 minutes, with no General Awareness section. 60 marks test basic science, maths and data analysis, 20 test logical capability (including English reading comprehension) and 20 test mental reasoning. Every wrong answer costs one third of a mark. About 8 candidates per post then take the CBAT, a computer based aptitude test, and the final merit is 70% CBT plus 30% CBAT.

Is Station Master part of RRB NTPC 2026?

No. The Railway Board's 3 Sep 2026 vacancy letter for NTPC Graduate lists only Goods Train Manager, Chief Commercial cum Ticket Supervisor, Junior Accounts Assistant cum Typist and Senior Clerk cum Typist, and says Station Master vacancies will be sent separately. They came as CEN 08/2026.

What is the RRB Station Master exam pattern?

One CBT of 100 questions for 100 marks in 120 minutes: Basic Science, Mathematical & Analytical Capability 60, Logical Capability 20 and Mental Reasoning 20. One third of a mark is cut for each wrong answer. There is no General Awareness section.

What is the CBAT and how is the final merit made?

The CBAT is a computer based aptitude test in Hindi and English, with no negative marking. Candidates equal to 8 times the vacancies of each community are called. You need a T-score of at least 42 in every test battery, with no relaxation for any category. The merit list is 70% CBT marks and 30% CBAT marks. You must bring a vision certificate in the CEN format to the CBAT.

What is the age limit for RRB Station Master 2026?

20 to 33 years on 1 January 2027. OBC (NCL) candidates get 3 more years and SC/ST candidates 5 more years, with other relaxations as per the notice.

What is the application fee?

₹500 for general candidates, of which ₹400 is refunded after you appear in the CBT. ₹250 for women, transgender, ex-servicemen, SC, ST, minority and EBC candidates, refunded in full after the CBT. Bank charges are deducted from refunds.

How many Station Master posts are there?

The RRB-wise table in CEN 08/2026 adds up to 1,265 posts (UR 542, OBC 296, SC 176, ST 104, EWS 147). The summary page of the notice prints 1,215, so check for a corrigendum on your RRB's website.

Is the RRB Station Master mock test free?
