The typing test

The test is in English on a computer. The notification asks for 40 words per minute, so aim above that. Speed alone is not enough: errors cost marks, so accuracy matters as much.

  • Practise on a keyboard, not a phone. The finger movement is different.
  • Type for 15 minutes a day, then increase to 30. Use a free online typing test and keep a record of speed and errors.
  • Learn to type numbers and common punctuation without looking.
  • On test day, read the passage once, then type steadily. Do not stop to fix every mistake.

Pro tipMockBlast has a free typing test under Tools. Use it to check your speed and accuracy every few days.

The written English test (30 marks)
